One of the most significant representatives of circum-Mediterranean ceramic culture, terra-cotta, is used to reinterpret an iconic type of Chinese classical artifact: the Hill censer (boshanlu). Departing from common glazing techniques, the surface of this piece is finished with Urushi lacquer, bearing the distinctive mark of East Asian culture.
