Exotic Leather of Clay

Inspired by the exquisite textures of rare animal leathers, my work explores the unique tactile qualities of these materials through the medium of clay.

This piece pays homage to the Chawan (teabowl) tradition, a central element of the Japanese tea ceremony. By using mold-making techniques with genuine crocodile tailbone leather, I have imbued the clay with a leather-like appearance, a process that beautifully blurs the boundaries between leather and ceramics.
